Hunt 3 McManus Camp 2021
Hunt 3 started off with extra warm December temps in the 80's. The Rut was still on but the big bucks seemed to be avoiding the heat and moving in the late night and early mornings.
Bill Kerr of East Windsor, NJ returned for his second year. Bill was the first to tag a great 18" buck with 11 points. The buck had three broken tines, a fighter for sure. We measured the buck matching his unbroken points and he would have scored over 130" B/C. So what makes a hunter so lucky, this group of veteran hunters decided it was Bill's lucky Adobe cap. The cap then started getting passed around giving the guys the extra super hunter hero power.
The extra hot weather persisted but so were the hunters. Bill Wurfel of Robbinsville, NJ was the second hunter to score a buck. Bill always hunts with his faithful black powder muzzle loader, Betsy. Finally a cool morning arrived and the Lucky cap Bill filled his blind with a cloud of black powder smoke after touching off ole Betsy on a great 10 point buck that was 15" wide. That brute of a buck dropped dead in his doe chasing tracks.
On Saturday morning finally the perfect hunting weather of 40 degrees arrived. Ed Miller of Fayetteville, PA and Darl Hospelhorn from Waynesboro, PA both tagged their bucks. Ed bagged a nice 15" 8 point with long 9" tines and Darl bagged a 17 1/2" 10 point. Darl was wearing the Luck cap. As always the hunt ended with mesquite grilled rib eye steaks and good memories.

McManus Hunt 2 2021
A family tradition has been set for the Rice family, that is joining together at the McManus camp for a great hunt and spending time with family and good friends. It was Kelly Rice from Webster, FL that bagged the first buck of the hunt and it set the bar high. Kelly's buck was 17" wide and was sporting excellent mass.
Ed Rice and Drew Pittman are competitive old friends both from Tampa, FL. They both took bucks on the same night and who is to be the judge. Ed's buck was 15 1/2" wide with ten points, however, there were two additional points that you could hang a ring on. The buck Drew bagged was chasing a doe right up to his blind, making it pretty exciting hunt for his first visit to the McManus camp. The buck was 16" wide and had ten points.
The final hunter, Winston Rice from Bushnell, FL was waiting for the right buck. Winston passed on several nice ones but was looking for the one. You know, the one that melts your butter. It was a great buck that had high and long tines that did just that, melted his butter. The buck was 16" wide and sported 8 long points.

The first hunt began with a bang! It wasn't twenty minuntes into the first evening hunt that an excellent buck was tagged. This group of hunters consists of first time Texas hunters; father Ed Robertson and his two sons Alex and Eddie. Also joining the party was Ed's grandson Colton.
The first hunter to tag a whopper of a buck was Ed Robertson of Hammonton, NJ. Like I said above, twenty minutes in and out walks this great buck, Ed wasted no time bagging this 16" 12 point. The buck scored 136 1/8" B/C. Ed also had the opportunity to bagged a second buck, and it was another fantastic buck. It was 16" and had eleven points, scoring 125 1/2" B/C.
Alex Robertson from Williamstown, NJ followed suite on the second evening and tagged a real nice buck. It was on Alex's birthday that this excellent eight point, 17" wide buck strode out giving him a great gift. Alex also tagged a doe.
Eddie Robertson of New Field, NJ had a great hunt on the second evening also. He was accompanied by his son Colton in the blind, making it a special moment for the both of them. Colton was learning the ropes of hunting from his dad. Eddie Tagged a nice 15" wide 9 point and also harvested a doe.
